A record of death is the official record of a death. These are a part of criminal records. By US Federal law all criminal records should be easily accessible for general public. On the other hand every state has its own laws with reference to this and how much each state allows its public information to be viewed is governed by its constitution and laws. It contains the date, time, place and cause of death, the name, d.o.b and occupation of the deceased. A few documents also contain the name among the person who reported the death, names of those who survive the dead and the place of burial. Most are submitted and handled by the local administration from the place where the death happened.
